Stories of Light

Toronto Spring Tour

Welcome!

I trust this message finds you in afiyeh and iman. My name is Maryam Sinclair and I am a professional storyteller with 45 years of experience.

I want to share some good news: I am coming to Toronto after Ramadan to offer live storytelling performances, as well as optional keynote presentations of a riveting real-world epilogue!

May Allah allow this Qur’anic material to captivate and inspire your hearts and minds, whether you are parents, children, or grown students of knowledge. I pray even  more that you will feel  deeper connections with the people who sit with you listening.

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate.

Oh Allah! FREE PALESTINE! Ease the suffering! Remove the oppressors and destroy them utterly!

Oh our Lord, don’t let them oppress us! Deliver us, by Your Mercy, from those who reject You.

Yunus 10:86

I am thrilled to present “The Fall of the Tyrant.” It is, b’idhnillah, a transformative portrayal of the life and times of Prophet Musa aleyhisalam and the Bani Israel, which occupies the lion’s share of the Qur’an, and for good reason! These momentous episodes actually form the back-story of the excruciating, unfathomable, unprecedented events we are living today.

I have been working with this material for well over 25 years and have had the distinctive opportunity to share and verify every sentence of the text with renowned Tafsir and Arabic scholar, Sheikh Ali Hani of Amman, Jordan.

With this experience I invite you to celebrate the Qur’anic narrative, but also I pray that you will taste something of how the Qur’an came into the world in the very first place.

It was not sent to us as a mushaf! Jibril aleyhisalam uttered each verse to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and give him peace and he memorized it, and it was thus transferred heart-to-heart, between the two.

It was then passed on that way to others, most of whom also memorized it – meaning: made it become part of their vibrational patterns! It was passed person-to-person for centuries, without the presence of the mushaf.

Yes, even during the life of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and give him peace, verses were carefully recorded and catalogued, but it wasn’t until years after his life that the mushaf came into being as a book to be held in the hands for the solitary experience of reading.

Think of it! Islam had spread far and wide because of the heart-to-heart spoken and lived experience of Qur’an, not by individuals reading it from marks on a surface.

“The Fall of the Tyrant” is not just a retelling of a timeless story—it is a transformative journey through the ages.

When you come to a live telling, inshaAllah, you will sit together with your families, friends, and your brothers and sisters, and within your own mind’s eye, by the Mercy and Generosity of Your Creator and Sustainer, those days, those places, those beings, will spring to life.

Their sounds and colors and fragrances and textures will become your unforgettable reality, not just informing you, but forming in you.

Then the next time you encounter those very events in the verses of the Magnificent Book, you will greet them as friends, and be pulled deep into their infinite meanings.

So come join us!

Especially come with your families, so that these treasures from Allah will

    • jump out of the distant past
    • and up off the page
    • and become part of your shared family culture.

A valuable gift to fortify your children’s Islamic identities!

Exclusive book signing

I will also include some book-signing events and book talks.

THE BOWING OF THE STARS: Allah says, “Be!” And it IS.

Amidst the chaotic symphony of bustling life – donkeys braying, merchants calling out their wares, great carts groaning along laden with clucking hens and crowing roosters, this book invites you to taste the unwavering patience and triumphant victory of Prophet Yusuf and his grieving yet persevering father, Prophet Yaqub, peace upon them. It will captivate your heart, young or old!

A shepherd boy dreams that his brothers and his parents bow down before him in a far-off land.

But he finds pain and hardship instead, stretching out before him for years, until at last, at the Hand of the Creator, he emerges to save a great nation from starvation.

His remarkable journey culminates in a breathtaking act of forgiveness that echoes through the ages, resonating with us even today.

Encounter the story on the richly illustrated pages of this book and then return to the chapter in the Qur’an, where you will find that it is, indeed, “the Most Beautiful of Stories,” a living story resounding in your being, still revealing Allah’s wisdom and beauty to those who seek it.

Allah says, Be! And it IS.
